Uncle Y’s 六十大寿！

Last-minute search for boss’s birthday present and I’m glad to have found something! Actually it wasn’t really a last-minute search because I had been trying to find, just that I really don’t know what to get =/

That’s why I really dislike present-hunt for the males; you just don’t know what to get! They consider cologne and accessories as “extra“, they complain about fashionable clothes being too warm, they don’t see a need for a new bag/wallet/anything else as long as the current one is still okay.

As for girls, it’s the opposite (which makes things so much easier)! Cologne and accessories are considered in the “package” of the outfit, fashionable clothes is about the beauty and not the weather, bags, shoes and everything else is never enough…LOL.

Okay anyhow, got the present and made a card as well like last year because I know boss appreciates such stuff! He displayed them on a shelf at home!

Since boss took a day off on the actual day of his birthday, we decided to have a belated celebration for him! Dumpling restaurant at Bras Basah – 天津馆！

Back to office and later in the afternoon, we had our cake celebration!

And he was so excited about it that he displayed them to take photo with! Haha!

Then he started swimming! LOLOL.

Who would believe that he is already 60? Not if you have seen the way he climbs up the ladder to do all sorts of work!

It’s actually everyone’s first time to try the sake manju and I’m glad that it turned out nice! Can even smell a little of the sake! (:

Off to PS to meet Lyn and Joan for dinner and movie~!

I recommended the Ocean Catch with stuffed crust and it’s actually the girls’ first time to try stuffed crust! =O
They like it but complained about the fullness later on…LOL.

Watched We Not Naughty using Lyn’s GV vouchers after that! (:

Despite of all the critics about Jack Neo’s films, I have actually always liked the emotional aspect of them and the way I can relate to those social problems touched on in the films. But this one wasn’t as touching~

I find that the show keeps cutting, or rather, fading from one scene to another, and each scene is of a relatively different social problem, resulting in a loss of focus in the whole story.

Nonetheless, at the end of the film, I still question myself once again (like I always do) that why do people even wanna get married and start a family, then make it into a messy one?

Yea things may not turn out as you expected but I believe it’s also about the effort to keep the family intact and reminding yourself the reason you started a family. If one was to give up halfway, then why bother in the first place? Because it’s a social norm to get married and have a family???

Anyhow, Christmas is over and Lyn is still showering me with cute random gifts! Awww~ What a cute dragon almond flakes cookies! (((:

Haw Par Villa!

Does everyone remember Haw Par Villa??? I know it’s like a pretty “dead” place by now but it’s still around at least!

I remember visiting it with my family and cousins about 2 decades ago =/
So on this fine Sunday, Joanjoan and I decided to pay a visit to see what’s left there!

Even breaking written rules and regulations and wasting food will be punished severely! Joanjoan said no one is a good person anymore =/

Finally found the 笑佛 that I was looking for! But it’s from a wrong angle -.- The person who took the photo for us even asked, “要拍脸吗？” and it took me a while to realise that he was actually referring to whether we wanna see the frontal view of the statue…Zzzz.

I was looking for this because I took photo with it when I was about 3 or 4! =O

We covered the whole place in probably less than 45 minutes =/
So we started thinking where to head next and I thought of going over to Anchor Point because I saw some sales there~

Glad that Joanjoan managed to get 2 pieces of apparels there, so it wasn’t a wasted trip after all! IKEAfor food after that!

Not knowing where to go next again, Joanjoan thought of singing K and despite the recent visit, I agreed readily! xD

A very brief update of my Friday~
Super slack day and I was damn bored actually! But went off pretty early and I actually managed to be the first to reach Bugis! Hoho~!

Sang K after that and it’s my first time singing with Joan! It turned out that both of them are sooooo shy, so I was mainly the one singing, despite of my sore throat x.x

It’s funny when Lyn kept refusing to let me sing because I might lose my voice, and yet she’s singing without mic while Joan is not confident to sing a full song either, so she kept skipping them halfway! Then who sing?! LOL.

Chingay on Saturday noon and I’m thankful that we still have this practice because my mind needs to be refreshed constantly! Almost forgotten all the steps again but luckily we went through many many rounds (:

Just that the dance steps have been changed again or rather, the first 1/4 has been removed and changed to free-style because we could barely hear the music until the second quarter part~ Even my favourite part has been removed x.x

Got to know from a friend’s Facebook post that there is book fair at Kallang Leisure Park selling super cheap books! Super tempted and I actually headed down to take a look!

Really is 捡到宝！They are supposed to be second-hand books I think, but the 2 that I got are pretty new! And I got them at less than 10 bucks! xD

I could have stayed there the whole day to choose! I actually wanted to get 1 more but I gave that up in the end because as much as I love to read, I seriously don’t know when can I finish them x.x

Off to Downtownfor dinner and movie~!

2011.

I stared at the word ‘January‘ for a while as I looked at today’s date, then told to myself, “It’s a new year…“

It doesn’t feel like a new year to me at all because it did not even feel like a year has passed. I admit that I have been pretty lost in time or what Xuannie calls it – “In your own world” and in fact, I did not summarise my 2011 because I find no words for it.

If I have to find a word to describe it, the closest will probably be ‘complicated‘. But it doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good year or I did not enjoy at all (:

I have in fact enjoyed 2011 a lot due to my participation in Chingay and NDP, which are probably the highlights of the year (especially the latter) and also the “turning point” for me in the sense that I reignited another passion in my life.

Met new people and made many new friends in the year and everyone made me feel really loved, making me truly glad to have known them too. Just that in the midst of indulging in this slight popularity and being loved by everyone, I lost track and went too far ahead.

It’s like in a maze – You are enjoying it so much that you kept going and going without watching your way. Then at a point you realised that you may have taken the wrong path, so now you either turn back or continue and just walk aimlessly or hope for a miracle – discover an alternative path or something.

Things got complicated and sometimes they are so complicated that I have learnt to just keep them to myself, because unless being in my shoes, no one will truly get it. Really. So rather keep a low profile than being judged.

I really do hope things will get better now, even though I don’t exactly know what “better” means. In order to have something being better, you always need another thing to compare. But which should you compare it with? The past, or the future?

Perhaps it also depends on how you look at it. I may not be happier now but all the things that had happened, despite the complications, I enjoyed my time in this maze (:

The Descendants

Super impromptu movie date with buddy and Gui! I would have watched it on my own if they did not agree to accompany me; don’t wanna keep missing movies that I wanna watch, especially when I must watch The Descendants!

The story is complicated, or rather, the relationships in it are. Wife having an affair with someone who is also married; so instead of love triangle, you have a quadrangle~

But it makes me put myself in so many different characters’ shoes and understand how each of them feels. The husband; the daughter; the wife having the affair; the wife of the man whom the wife is having affair with…hmmmm.

Nevertheless, it was quite a touching film and buddy caught me tearing at the part when Matt says, “Goodbye my love, my friend, my pain, my joy.” to his dying wife…haha!

I actually started tearing way before that and if the guys had not used up my tissue during dinner, I would have cried a bucket! Bring your own tissue next time lah! LOL.

4 Houses in a Day!

Had a longggggg but good Chinese New Year day 2~!

Woke up early to travel down to the east for the first house of the day – darling Ah Lyn’s!

She said she doesn’t know how to entertain guests, so I entertained myself xD

Then his brother came out and started crapping with me all the way! Hahaha! I didn’t know she has such a crappy brother! I thought everyone in her family is shy like her but the brother is seriously talkative!

The girls love to underestimate the amount of food -.- Initially when there were only 3 of us (Joan, Lyn and I), they were already afraid that there might not be enough food. But it turned out that everyone was bloated (except me) and there was still food left!

Luckily I had already warned the girls that I’m just gonna stop once I’m feeling full; I’m not a fan of steamboat because I usually end up getting damn full =/

Joan was busy dealing with the food again; she woke up at 8am to prepare those food! x.x

Done with the east and off to the north in the evening – Queen’s place!

The guys played pool while we girls sang for a while before we were gathered for dinner~ But I skipped it because I just had steamboat!!! -faint!-

So I watched Zeena eat instead because I know that annoys her and I love to annoy her as much as she loves to annoy me! xD

Back to sing a few more songs and then we were gathered for Black Jack! I don’t usually gamble (especially big bets) because I’m just not so into gambling~ 我比较喜欢脚踏实地的赚钱…hahaha!

But since Tenna was playing 50 cents (the minimum bet), I concluded that my $1 bet ain’t too small! LOL. But the surprise guest – Sebastian kept betting on me because he did not want me to bet $1 -stressed!!!-

Then after Tenna left upon winning back what she had lost (LOL), everyone started winning except the banker – Uncle Koh! Hahaha! Jinxed max! But now my $1 bet became the smallest bet aka “the cheap one” as the banker calls it D:

Increased my bet for the very last round! $2003 okay! ROFL.

Won a total of 6 bucks in the end! Haha! I’m happy enough

Thought that would be the last house of the day but the guys decided to head over to WJ’s house even though it was already 10 plus! Felt kinda paiseh because it’s as though we are there to take angbao -.- I even asked the guys if I can just sit outside and not go in and obviously I got scolded =/

But it was actually nice seeing all the nice aunties and uncle again and also Koshi!!! Miss her so much and miss her shuang pose (whenever someone massages her) even more! Haha! Why forever so cute one?!

Mad tired once the clock struck 12 and as expected, buddy did not leave at 12 as promised because WJ’s aunt kept bringing out food and he couldn’t resist~ Finally closed the gambling den and left as some of us gotta work the next day -zombified-

Me: Eh my orange~ *reach to take my oranges bag beside him*

Isaac’s First Chinese New Year!

Woke up pretty early but nua-ed in bed because I didn’t wanna meet fake people~ But woke up specially to welcome my dearest nephew though!

It’s his first CNY and everyone showered him with extra love! We were taking turns to carry him and I refused to let my mum carry because I didn’t wanna give up my turn..hehe!

I thought it would be one of those crappy CNY movies but I didn’t mind because I just wanna get out and do something~ But it turned out to be quite an enjoyable show and I had a good time laughing!

Especially the part whereby they remade the signature scene of 那些年 when 沈佳仪 was punished, totally laughed my ass off! Totally what I needed! xD

Had our usual void deck chat after that and then home with a bad headache -.- Bahhhhhhhh~

Clique’s Reunion Dinner!

Was looking forward to this 4-days holiday (who isn’t!) because I have so much things to be done! E.g. Last minute spring cleaning of my room, ironing my clothes, blogging overdue entries, watching my super “overdue” DVDs, and of course visiting my little burger!

Decided to drop by because I have reunion dinner with Clique at just 2 bus-stops away~
Poor baby was suffering a trauma after he accidentally covered his face with the pillow! He couldn’t stop crying! -heartbreak-

Finally had his milk and soundly asleep after the trauma! (:

Headed to the same place where we had our reunion dinner last year and buddy was already queuing along with Shrine and TCC. Mad hungry but we had to wait for the others to arrive x.x

Struck

Sudden heavy rain in the afternoon and if you have been following my tweets, you would have known that I was almost electrocuted =/

It was really rather traumatising because the lightning and thunder alone is usually enough to scare me (I’m not timid; I just don’t like loud noise!) but this time round along with the lightning, there was spark from my handphone charger which struck my hand as well!

Everything just happened in a split second – the lightning, the spark, the blackout, my scream! Seriously traumatised but having very optimistic boss and colleagues, they said the lightning is a “visit from the dragon” and it’s a good sign x.x
Well, hopefully~ But no matter what, I’m glad that I didn’t die from that “visit“.

Off to Bras Basah to print our new namecards and ended up having super late lunch again! They decided to try Kazokutei, which I have tried before(:

Chinatown again after work and the crowd was not as bad as I expected~
