Who would expect them to be competing against each other for the male champion today? I guess Shawn wouldn’t expect the guy sitting beside him to be his final round rival too.

I can still remember, after the hosts (Dasmond and Pornsak) interviewed Shawn and gave him a chance to sabotage another contestant, he chose “the one sitting beside him” excitedly. At that time, he did not even know Benji’s name =D


Anyway, I am watching the finals now, as I’m blogging =)
Somehow, this season’s Campus Superstar interest me more than the previous. Maybe because I’ve met them 3 times. And each time, I saw them grown. From little geeks to today’s superstar =)

Just when I realised I gotta be engaged into more activities to keep myself occupied, I’ve stepped into the most crucial last 2 weeks!!! I’ve finally joined Photography club, but I missed the first outing because I was on a mission for Youth.SG again. I thought I wouldn’t be covering events for them anymore, after my only connection there (Alvin) left. But when I went to collect my prize (blue-tooth headset) from Youth.SG last week, I met Cass. She was the one who brought me along for the previous Campus Superstar coverage. Yea so she remembers me and asked if I am able to help her cover the “Campus Superstar meet and greet session”. But this time, I will be all alone =x My first thought was “shit! I gotta write the entry this time!” Hahaha! But still, I went for it. Of course, this experience was quite different from the previous 2. I need to take down notes consistently, as well as snap pictures frequently. Though it was quite embarrasing to be using my mini digital camera beside the Mediacorp photographer (who was obviously using a DSLR or even better camera), I really loveeee the experience. It tested on my independence, and at the end, I was quite proud of myself for completing the task alone. =D

As for the write up, with GREAT help from Sonia (for correcting my English Singlish, I managed to submit a satisfying entry =) Read it here!

Back to work now! Can someone teach me how to squeeze 1 big project (Animation), 2 tests (scriptwriting & cam&light) and 2 assignments (IS and Final script) in 1 and a half week??? But I still hope 8 August arrive faster!!! Oh yah, I need to find a job soon..please intro me if any..thanks!

“Harry Potter” signing off! =D

Nonono! I mean no longer a virgin experience of being a junior reporter of youth.sg!!! Yep..I went for the campus superstar handover session today with Cassandra instead of Melvin this time. Had a hard time spotting her from the crowd, but luckily I recognised her from the youth.sg crew profile. Some of those who didn’t manage to get into the Top 20 came down to support too. One of them is Ephriam’s (the guy I suan that time, and he happened to be a young PAP member =x ) friend, and suprisingly they all recognised me..haha! They must be thinking “that damn photographer who kept snapping at us.” =x

Cass asked for permission to get in to the front but the staff directed us to ask the security guard instead. And the stupid guard just replied “wait ah..” and continued standing there! Yea so we waited while I took a few shots of the crowd. The crowd was slightly smaller than that time at TPY hub (I think), but it still managed to occupy the whole J8 open plaza.

Then I think Cass got pissed with the guard so she approached him the second time. This time we were referred to the guard’s boss or what…and none of them know what’s youth.sg!!! Don’t blame them..they are not youths =D

So they refused to let us in because we’re not from Mediacorp…Zzzz! No matter how many times Cass emphasised that youth.sg is under MCYS, they seemed to not understand and continued asking about Mediacorp *faint*

Finally they went in and asked the in-charge about youth.sg, then we were given the rights to get in. Got to the front and started snapping pictures of the crowd. I went up to the stage (before the event started) to snap the whole crowd and I actually heard people saying “hello! What song you wanna sing???” -.-|||

Then the event finally started! It’s really a superstar gathering because even the hosts are from Superhosts (Cui Fang & Yun Yin). The 20 nicely-groomed finalists were being invited out first. Then one by one, the ex-campus superstars (Geraldine, Renfred & Theresa) performed one song each. Oh by the way, I heard Renfred’s in NP now, but haven’t get to see him. Anyway, superstars - Carrie, Darren, Diya, Nat & Shi Xin Hui came too. But I wasn’t that excited in meeting the Superstar II contestants, since I’ve been to their recordings that time. Then everyone had their 5 minutes of fame except for Xin Hui. She sang 2 songs instead. First song, she forgot her lyrics. Second song, she was near to tears. She said it was because the lyrics made her recall some reports about her and also some relationship matters.

Having seated in their BRIGHT outfits for one hour plus, it was finally the 20 finalists’ turn to get on stage. They were dressed and styled so “dazzlingly” just to introduce themselves and choose a cartoon character that represents them. Zzzz…But after all it wasn’t their audition this time, it’s the HANDOVER! So the little ones chose Shawn (that super cute boy) to be their representative to receive the campus superstar banner from the 3 ex-campus superstars. (Shawn is really super damn cute!) After the handover session, the 20 finalists stayed back for some photograph session. I thought it would be better to wear heels as I didn’t want all the photos to turn out as low-angle shots =x But I kinda realised I made the wrong choice because all the reporters got their feet up on the chair in the end! Of course I cannot lose to them lah! So I climbed up in my skirt and heels..haha! Ahh…at least there were some eye-level shots now =)

Yea so after 2 hours of photography session, the event ended and the crowd dispersed. Phew! It was hot but not as hot as TPY hub. Phew! It wasn’t another 7 hours event (though I don’t mind actually). PHEW!!! I’m only in-charge of photography this time, which means I don’t have to spend the WHOLE day writing and asking people to check my work for me. Seriously, I realised I suck at writing.

Anyway I was so tempted to bring my own lousy digi-cam to shoot some pictures for my own blog. It’s rare to get to stand like 2m from the stars while the fans gotta squeeze themselves behind me. There was this girl (some hardcore crazy fan of every superstar) who actually poked me while I’m taking pictures, and told me that I’m blocking her. I just replied “orh..” and moved 1cm away *Evil grin* I think she was dying to have my position. Wahahaha! I’m enjoying such events more and more =D

The only time I’ve been surrounded by fans was when I went for Sylvester Sim & Taufik’s autograph session at J8 (because we’ve nowhere else to go). And yesterday, I was once again surrounded by fans. BUT, I wasn’t among the crowd like the previous time, because I went there with the identity of a junior reporter for youth.sg this time.

There was no aircon. And having the huge crowd surrounding me, I was really sweating like hell. Not only that, I still have to bear with the deafening screams. At the end of the day, I was really having a headache mainly because of the 7 hours stereo screams and cheers.

This made me realised being a reporter is not easy at all! But still, I don’t know why..somehow I’ve enjoyed this experience. =) Maybe I like it when I get to enter the audition area while the fans gotta squeeze themselves at that stuffy place..haha! I’m so sadistic! Just kidding lah! I just like experiences =)

Summary of the day: Sweat, 7 hours of photography & overloaded stereo screams, great experience, wonderful + awful music.
